Chaos at airports across the European country. Strikes will continue until the end of the year.

Tourists planning to travel to Spain in the near future should monitor the status of their flights. This is due to a series of strikes that began during the August long weekend at more than a dozen airports across the country and may continue until the end of the year. Baggage sorting workers at Azul Handling, a Ryanair Group company, are protesting, dissatisfied with their pay and employment conditions. However, the airline assures passengers that minimum service standards will be maintained. Travelers should not fear cancellations.
Airport strikes in SpainProtests by ground handling staff began last weekend in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, and seven other Spanish airports. This is a particularly challenging time, as mid-August is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. While disruptions with check-in, baggage handling, and boarding were unavoidable, the situation has been brought under control. Ultimately, there have been no mass flight cancellations in recent days, and only a few incidents. Ryanair emphasizes that Spanish law requires minimum service standards to be maintained even during a strike. The airline says it does not anticipate any disruption to operations during the protests.
Protests until the end of the yearAfter the first three days of strike on August 15, 16, and 17, Azul Handling's protests are scheduled to continue every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until December 31, 2025. "The strike will be concentrated in three critical time slots: from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and from 9:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., which coincide with peak airport traffic periods," reports Euronews. The strikes are affecting airports in Alicante, Barcelona, Girona, Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Valencia, Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Ibiza.
