Muhittin Böcek was suspended from duty

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was detained as part of a corruption investigation, was arrested, and Böcek's former daughter-in-law Zeynep Kerimoğlu, who was detained as part of the same investigation, was released with an international travel ban.

There was an important last minute development regarding Muhittin Böcek . The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was suspended from duty.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs' statement included the following statements:

“Press Statement on the Suspension of the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality by the Ministry of Internal Affairs Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin BÖCEK,

Upon his arrest within the scope of the investigation launched against him for the crime of "Receiving a Bribe" with the decision of the Antalya 6th Criminal Court of Peace dated 05.07.2025 and numbered 2025/482, he was suspended from duty by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a temporary measure in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipality Law No. 5393.
