Zakopane is getting ready for the holidays. Highlanders will change their prices.

Although it's only the beginning of November, Zakopane is already preparing for the coming winter. The capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains is a popular destination for winter break. Tatra entrepreneurs have made a decision that could attract more tourists this season.

Karol Wagner from the Tatra Chamber of Commerce in an interview with TOK FM drew attention to the large number of entrepreneurs in Zakopane.

– We have internal competition and within this competition, our internal fight, the winner is of course the consumer, i.e. the guest – he said, drawing attention to the reduction in prices of services.

It turns out that prices at the mountain resort aren't set manually. The highlanders of Zakopane are keeping up with the times and have implemented a tool that dynamically sets service prices.

– These tools can, of course, quite smoothly change the price of a given service within a limited range, which, according to these tools, will be accepted by the designated guest portfolio – said Karol Wagner.

The number of tourists is growing. In 2024, the Tatra Mountains were visited by 5 million people.

According to data from the Tatra Chamber of Commerce, last year during the winter break, the average price for a night (double room, three-star hotel) in Zakopane was approximately 700 PLN. The portal Bankier.pl noted the limited occupancy of accommodations. Statistically, the second week of the Mazovian Voivodeship's winter break was the busiest, with approximately 70% of accommodations occupied.

The number of tourists visiting the Polish Tatra Mountains has been growing for several years. At the beginning of the 21st century, fewer than 2 million tourists visited the Polish part of the mountains annually. Later, this number exceeded 2.5 million. In 2017, it was 2.8 million tourists, and two years later – 4 million. In 2024, another record was broken – approximately 5 million tourists visited the Polish Tatras.
