The small Asturian village hidden among chestnut trees, perfect for a rural getaway

The Principality of Asturias is full of small towns with barely a handful of residents, yet they are fascinating rural tourism destinations. This northern part of Spain is home to some of the quietest towns and villages in the entire country, where peace permeates every corner. One of the clearest examples is the parish of Tiñana, located in the heart of the autonomous community.
This town belongs to the municipality of Siejo and has fewer than a thousand inhabitants, but it is undoubtedly one of the most special places in Asturias thanks to the tranquility that permeates its streets and the natural environment that surrounds it, which becomes even more stunning in the autumn months . Therefore, it is one of the best places in Spain for a rural tourism getaway in October and November, before the freezing winter arrives on the Iberian Peninsula.
Tiñana, a hidden secret in the heart of AsturiasThe scattered street network of this parish has just over 420 homes where stress is unwelcome, so strolling through its streets surrounded by green fields and the purest air in the country is an experience that recharges anyone's batteries. Furthermore, the chestnut trees found both in and around the town center enhance Tiñana's bucolic character.
The parish is made up of six population centers, where you can admire numerous architectural treasures, such as several fountains with decades of history and the beautiful Church of Santa María, the town's main church. Furthermore, as can be read on the Siero Town Council website, the parish is also home to the sublime Castiello hill fort, another of the town's points of interest.
In addition to the chestnut trees, which in the autumn take on coppery hues that completely transform the parish, Tiñana is also home to numerous cider mills, typical Asturian cider-making sites. Visitors can enjoy this authentic Asturian elixir if they spend a few days in the town.
The parish of Tiñana is located just fifteen minutes by road from the city of Oviedo. To get there from the Asturian capital, simply exit onto the A-66 (Autovía de la Plata) , then turn onto the A-64 and finally onto the BI-6 until you reach the town center of this incredible haven of peace in the heart of Asturias.
