What are the most popular destinations for Colombians traveling during the June holidays?

Medellín was the big surprise of both weekends, doubling its appeal to travelers with an 81 percent increase in bookings on both dates compared to the same period last year , a clear indicator of the tourism boom in the Antioquia capital.

Bogotá also ranks first with a 63 percent increase on the first holiday and a 28 percent increase on the second, demonstrating that many Colombians choose urban, cultural, or family-oriented plans during their getaways.
For their part, Cartagena and Santa Marta continue to consolidate their position as favorites in the Colombian Caribbean. During the first long weekend, from June 21st to 24th, both cities registered a 23 percent increase in searches compared to the same period last year. For the second long weekend, from June 28th to July 1st, Cartagena stood out even more with a 39 percent increase, while Santa Marta maintained its prominence with a 16 percent growth.
San Andrés also remained firmly established as one of the country's favorite destinations, confirming its place in the top 5 most booked hotels for this time of year.
According to Viajes Circular, interest in places other than Punta Cana, such as La Romana, Miches, and Puerto Plata, has been growing in the Dominican Republic thanks to their paradisiacal beaches and hotel infrastructure.

With the mid-year holidays approaching, many Colombian families are planning their next getaway as the ideal opportunity to relax, explore new destinations, and create unforgettable memories. However, poor planning can make all the difference.
Before traveling, keep in mind that it's essential to know the requirements and documentation required by your destination. According to Jhon Ferney Castellanos, senior agent at Viajes Circular, many people experience problems due to not having the necessary documentation and not taking the necessary precautions. "In domestic destinations, if you're traveling with minors who are not your own children, they must have parental authorization. Without this requirement, they won't be able to board flights, check into hotels, or travel on inter-departmental buses. Even if the minor is the traveler's child, they must present a copy of the Civil Registry to prove the relationship," says Castellanos.

Regarding international travel, Castellanos reminds that if a minor is traveling with only one parent, they must have notarized permission from the other parent . He also emphasizes that the passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of travel. "It is also essential to purchase travel medical insurance and notify the bank about the use of credit cards abroad to avoid unexpected restrictions," he points out.
Another aspect that has recently gained relevance is the requirement for the yellow fever vaccine. “More and more countries are requiring it, some of which are popular destinations during vacation periods, such as Aruba, Curaçao, Costa Rica, Panama, and Brazil, among others. It's important to check whether your destination requires it, as the vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before travel ,” warns Castellanos.
