Vueling strengthens its service to Tenerife North and Santiago following Ryanair's flight cuts.

Ryanair announced last Wednesday a reduction of one million seats at Spanish regional airports, the closure of its base in Santiago de Compostela, and the suspension of flights to Vigo and Tenerife North starting January 1, 2026, due to "excessive and uncompetitive" Aena charges. Now, Vueling has announced an increase that would cover some of the flights suspended by the Irish airline.
Thus, the Catalan airline has declared that this winter season will be "more ambitious" for Tenerife North , with almost 900,000 seats offered, 11% more than in 2024, and 89,000 additional seats . In total, Vueling will add 25 new weekly frequencies to Tenerife North Airport: five to Barcelona, reaching 35; one to Seville, to operate every day of the week; three additional frequencies to Santiago, Malaga, and Alicante, and two to Valencia. In addition, it will maintain current connections to Bilbao, Granada, Asturias, and Paris.
Meanwhile, there will also be a 15% increase in seats offered at Santiago de Compostela Airport, which adds 28 weekly frequencies , with improvements to and from Barcelona, Palma, the Canary Islands, Seville, and Malaga. The Santiago-Alicante route will also be restored, with two weekly frequencies in winter, while international connections to Zurich will return with three weekly frequencies, and London (with Heathrow as a new feature) and Paris will remain in operation.
In Santiago, where the airline has been operating since 2006, Vueling has transported more than 9.6 million passengers until 2024, when the company moved more than 1.2 million passengers and so far this year alone , nearly 760,000 passengers have flown with Vueling.
