According to the company, this renewal not only represents a strengthening of the fleet, but also a commitment to bringing progress, opportunities, and hope to the regions of Colombia.
The addition of these aircraft will strengthen connectivity in the Pacific, the Caribbean Coast, and the Orinoquia region , and will mark a historic milestone in La Guajira, a department where the company had not established regular commercial operations.
This expansion will open up new opportunities for tourism, boost trade, and foster the integration of communities in various regions of the country .

"More than just new routes, these are air bridges that will boost tourism, stimulate trade, and allow for the integration of communities that depend on fast and safe air transportation solutions ," said Major General Oscar Zuluaga Castaño, president of Satena.
These three aircraft join SATENA's current fleet, which consists of two ATR 72s, eight ATR 42s, two Embraer 145s, and two Twin Otters, bringing the total number of aircraft serving the country's connectivity to 17. Each ATR 72-600 has capacity for 70 passengers, which will expand coverage and increase the supply of available seats in the regions.
The aircraft will arrive in the country gradually:
- The first aircraft, registered HK5464, will depart from Mönchengladbach, Germany, on September 16, 2025, on an approximately four-day ferry flight to Bogotá.
- The second, HK5465, will depart Denmark on September 26, 2025.
- Finally, the third, HK5466, will take off from Germany on October 6, 2025.
The Franco-Italian-built ATR 72-600 is recognized as one of the world's most successful turboprops, with more than 1,200 units built.
The -600 series integrates advanced technology, high safety standards, and competitive operating costs, making it the ideal platform for difficult-to-access routes and airfields with limited infrastructure.
