Türkiye faces 2% fall in tourist arrivals in 2025

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has released the latest visitor statistics for July and the JanuaryJuly period.

According to the data, Türkiye welcomed 6.97 million foreign visitors in July, a 4.97% decrease compared to the same month last year. Germany was the leading source market with 981,000 arrivals, followed by Russia (953,000), the United Kingdam (597,000), Poland (328,000) and the Netherlands (260,000).

In the first seven months of the year, total foreign arrivals fell by 2.1% to 28.37 million. Russia topped the list with 3.56 million visitors, ahead of Germany (3.40 million), United Kingdam (2.35 million), Iran (1.61 million) and Bulgaria (1.48 million).

Visitor numbers from European-OECD countries collectively dropped 4.14% in the January–July period. Declines were recorded from Germany (-2.8%), Belgium (-2.5%), France (-0.78%), the Netherlands (-1%), the UK (-3.41%), Switzerland (-1.12%), Greece (-13%), Bulgaria (-8.8%), Romania (-8.34%) and the Czech Republic (-3.5%).

The Russian and CIS markets also posted negative results. Arrivals from Russia were down 1.33%, Azerbaijan 3.21%, Georgia 13.2% and Kazakhstan 12.68%, with the overall regional decline exceeding 2%.

In Asia, Chinese visitor numbers remained stable, but Türkiye saw sharp drops from India (-19.5%) and Iran (-8%).

Middle Eastern and North African markets also trended downward, with arrivals from countries including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar falling between 1% and 27%. However, Israel bucked the trend, recording a notable 38% increase. North African countries such as Morocco, Libya, Egypt and Tunisia also showed significant losses.
