The incredible little UK seaside market town rammed with independent shops

Along the coast of Cornwall sits a beautiful town that’s a stunning place to visit whether it's winter or summer. Falmouth is known for its selection of shops, beautiful coastal views and exciting atmosphere.
Also famous for its deep natural harbour, Falmouth is more than just a picturesque port. Its narrow, bustling streets are lined with a huge selection of independent shops, galleries, and cafés.
According to Falmouth BID, over 75% of businesses in the town centre are independently owned.

It adds that Falmouth stands out nationally for its entrepreneurial spirit and strong community values.
One must-visit place in the area is Trebah Gardens. A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “We thought we had seen most of Cornwall in 40 years but had somehow missed Trebah.
“Fabulous gardens, fabulous restaurant and fabulous staff. Well done!”
Another penned: “Absolute gem of a garden and definitely my favourite of all those visited in the last week.
“Entrance fee is superb value for money and opens a gateway to a garden with so much to offer even at this time of year!”

Another place you can’t miss out on while you’re there is Pendennis Castle which sits on a headland with sweeping sea views.
You can explore its tunnels, cannons, and exhibitions which tell Falmouth’s story through the centuries.
If you’re hoping to enjoy the coast, you can’t miss out on a walk along Swanpool Beach or Gyllyngvase Beach.
One person who visited Swanpool Beach said: “Love it here! Not too busy, lovely walks around the reserve and to neighbouring beaches. Tasty ice creams, easily accessible on foot or by car - win!”
The town is easily accessible with good road and rail connections. It is a terminus of the A39, which connects Falmouth with the A30 via Truro and provides a fast link to the M5 motorway at Exeter, in Devon.
There are also three railway stations in Falmouth - two more than in St Ives.
The fastest trains from London to Falmouth can take as little as 4 hours and 37 minutes, which is also quicker than St Ives to the capital.
Falmouth is a quiet yet exciting destination to visit this autumn.
