However, many holidaymakers may not be aware that in some cities, tourist tax will be added to their hotel bills and can increase their accommodation costs by 10% or more.
If you're planning a trip away this year, it's worth knowing which countries will cost you the most. Holiday rental company holidu has revealed the 10 most expensive tourist taxes in the world - and one European country made it on the list.
San Francisco is tenth on the list with a nightly tourist tax of £6.86. The city is famous for the Golden Gate Bridge, charming hilly suburbs and vibrant art scene.
