Three more mayors, including Muhittin Böcek, detained

Raids and detentions targeting municipalities run by the Republican People's Party continue. Following Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara , Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar , Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere were also detained.

CHP Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere was detained in an operation carried out at his house in the morning hours.

Tutdere, who announced that she was detained via a post on her social media account, said, “ I was detained from my home in Ankara this morning. I am being taken to Istanbul .”

Zeydan Karalar and Muhittin Böcek are also in custody

Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar was also detained in Istanbul.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was also detained upon the instructions of the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Deputy mayor also detained

Deputy Mayor Ahmet Şahin, who was elected to replace the arrested Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, was detained.

In the statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the operations, it was claimed that the raid and detention decisions in question were taken due to the crime of extortion (public officials abusing the influence provided by the public duty they perform, in order to benefit from the people they deal with or to direct these people to make promises in order to benefit them).
