The historical area in Erzurum Oltu will be revitalized

The historical area in Erzurum Oltu will be revitalized

The historic Oltu Church , located in the Oltu district of Erzurum, is being revitalized with landscaping. As part of the project carried out by the Oltu Municipality, playgrounds, entertainment areas, and adventure trails are being built around the church, aiming to contribute to the social life of the area. Oltu Mayor Adem Çelebi, in a statement about the project, recalled that the Oltu Church garden used to be an apple orchard where children played. He said, "This was once one of our precious spaces where children could run and play. We are working tirelessly to revitalize this area."

The project also includes the construction of a medium-sized wedding hall and two cafeterias in the churchyard. Mayor Çelebi emphasized the importance of these investments, particularly for low-income citizens, saying, "On the occasion of 2025 being the Year of the Family, we will be providing our wedding hall free of charge to young couples who benefit from interest-free marriage loans. May God bless this opportunity. We will have our hall completed soon."

Once completed, the wedding hall will provide a significant opportunity for young couples who have been unable to hold weddings due to hall rental fees. The municipality aims to both revitalize the historic site and support its citizens through social support projects. Construction of the perimeter walls is progressing rapidly, while the park and residential areas to be created as part of the project are scheduled for completion by spring 2026. The Oltu Municipality aims to transform the area surrounding Oltu Church into a truly attractive destination.
