CHP chairman defends cash for luxury villas


Within the scope of the investigation launched four months ago by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against CHP Manavgat Municipality administrators on charges of "bribery", 35 out of 41 people, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara and his deputy Engin Tüter, were detained.

According to Sabah newspaper, 19 suspects were arrested as part of the operation, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara and his deputy, who was caught accepting a 110,000 euro bribe from a businessman in his office, while 16 were released on probation.

It was determined that Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara bought his villa in the Side Kemer neighborhood for 750 thousand euros and that the cost was covered by hotel investor businessmen.

It was determined that he had his villa in Kumköy demolished and renovated free of charge and demanded the payment from the hotel owner businessmen.

In his statement, Kara claimed that he bought his villa in the Kemer neighborhood for 4.5 million liras but paid the amount in cash.
