This European city is a must-see once in a lifetime. It beats out Rome and Paris.

Italy boasts the most beautiful cities in all of Europe. In the latest ranking by Travel + Leisure magazine, it was the only European country to have three representatives among the top 25. Interestingly, the top spot wasn't occupied by Rome. This time , the "Eternal City" was overtaken by Florence, which was thus named the best place to visit on the Old Continent.

Florence number one in Europe

Tuscany has been attracting tourists for years with its charming towns and vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see. The most important place to visit in this region of Italy, however, is Florence. Poles often forget about it, as unfortunately, there are still no direct flights from our country. However, a short high-speed train ride from Rimini or Pisa is enough to find you in the city's historic center, which Travel + Leisure magazine voted the best not only in Italy but in all of Europe. "Florence continues to charm travelers with its intimate atmosphere, world-renowned art, and sunny squares. It's a feast for lovers of masterpieces that can only be admired by strolling. Timeless, rustic restaurants add to the atmosphere," we read.

Rome and Siena rank high

Italy was the only European country to have three cities ranked among the top 25 most beautiful cities in the world. Florence was eleventh, Rome eighteenth, and another Tuscan city – the medieval pearl of Siena – twenty-third. This clearly beat Italy to another most-visited European country. Paris or any other French city tops the Travel + Leisure rankings.

Outside of Europe, cities across the pond definitely caught travelers' attention. San Miguel de Allende in Mexico topped the list, with Oaxaca in second place. Tokyo came in last.
