Not Zanzibar, not the Seychelles. This African island is a must-visit.

Not Zanzibar, not the Seychelles. This African island is a must-visit.

The island of Nosy Be, located off the northwest coast of Madagascar, is now accessible to Polish tourists like never before. All thanks to Itaka, the only travel agency in the country that flies clients there on charter flights. "It's the quintessence of exoticism, where paradisiacal landscapes and a unique culture create the perfect conditions for an unforgettable vacation," Poznań Ławica Airport advertises this far-flung destination.

An undiscovered island in the Indian Ocean directly from Poland

African islands guarantee exotic holidays. Poles fell in love with Madagascar several years ago, and the Seychelles and Mauritius are still considered symbols of luxury. The Nosy Be archipelago, with its largest island of the same name, has recently become a popular destination for tourists. Since August, Poznań Airport has offered direct flights to this fabulous part of Madagascar. Flights depart once a week – on Sundays, with returns on Mondays – and are operated by a comfortable Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

A small island full of attractions

Although Nosy Be is small (the island is about five times smaller than Zanzibar), you will certainly find plenty to do during your stay.

It's best to start your tour in the largest city, Andoana, also known as Hell-Ville. Tourists will be surprised by the paved streets, a rarity on the main island of Madagascar. The capital boasts a market and a port, among other attractions. Another must-see is the Lokobe Reserve, home to lemurs, chameleons, and endemic bird species.

For many foreign visitors, however, the crystalline, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and the wealth of coral reefs hidden within are enough to make them happy. "Beaches like Andilana and Ambatoloaka are perfect for both a quiet vacation and water sports," we read.
