After reaching the US Open quarterfinals, Iga Świątek didn't have much time to rest. After competing overseas, the WTA No. 2 player embarked on an Asian tour , kicking off with a match in South Korea.
The world's second-ranked player stormed through the Seoul event, confidently beating Romanian Sorana Cirstea, Czech Barbora Krejcikova and Australian Maya Joint on her way to the final.

Poland's Iga Świątek vs. Russia's Ekaterina Aleksandrova - the final match of the Korea Open 2025Świątek entered the match against the Russian as the clear favorite. The final was a close one, though, even though the first set promised an easy win for Aleksandrova. The Wimbledon champion started Sunday's match rather mediocrely, making numerous unforced errors and lacking ease and confidence in her game.
Iga quickly gave in and in the opening set she only managed to win an honorable game, while the Sborne representative managed much more.
Aleksandrova's first serve was working perfectly, and she was consistently winning points on deep returns. In the next set, the play on Centre Court in Seoul changed dramatically. The game became even, necessitating a tiebreak, where Świątek maintained her composure.
The Russian opened the decisive set better. Aleksandrova took a 3-1 lead, but it must be admitted that the advantage was due to her opponent's poor performance. Raszynianka's serving was terrible, but she later recovered, making up for lost time. From a 3-3 tie, the players won games on their serve, and another tiebreaker seemed inevitable. However, a tiebreak didn't materialize, as Świątek triumphed 1-6, 7-6, 7-5. The match itself lasted a whopping 2 hours and 45 minutes and wasn't of a high standard, although it provided plenty of excitement for the fans.
Wim Fissett's protégé became $164,000 richer thanks to her victory in Seoul .
