In Italy, the sector boasts 21,000 equestrian tourists ready to embark on a riding holiday, supported by hundreds of centers specializing in promoting equestrian tourism and promoting this type of vacation.

Each horse, bred locally, knows the trails and rhythms of its homeland; tack and training follow ancient local traditions, offering participants the opportunity to immerse themselves not only in the landscapes, but also in the equestrian culture and history of those places.

Here are some suggestions in Italy, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

This four-day, three-night trek in Molise around Lake Occhito, a 13-square-kilometer artificial lake on the border with Puglia, is a vacation suitable for everyone, even beginners. Ride along the roads surrounding the lake to discover the reserve's rich natural heritage, home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna. Overnight stays are at a farmhouse, where meals are based on local produce. Prices start at €724 per person, with a minimum of two participants and accommodations in a double room.

This French tour explores Normandy, a region rich in charm, history, art, and gastronomy, starting in Cancale and ending in Mont-Saint-Michel. It's a week-long journey with five days in the saddle along the coast, past cliffs and beaches, castles and ancient seaside villages, all the way to the imposing Benedictine abbey. Individual rates start at €1,095 and include transfers from Pontorson, six nights' accommodation in mountain huts, guided horseback trekking, luggage transfer, and full board.

In Africa, you can take a horseback safari in Arusha National Park, Tanzania, a top destination for lovers of the wild savannah. It's a week-long adventure on horseback—with some jeep travel—in the park's lush vegetation, home to many animal species. You'll also ride through Maasai lands, encountering local people, and experience the thrill of sleeping under the stars in well-equipped tented camps. The trip is recommended for experienced riders, and prices start at €6,000 and include, in addition to the horse, equipment, a guide, and park entrance fees, transfers to and from Kilimanjaro Airport, one overnight stay in a lodge, and six nights in tented camps with full board. The horseback safari can also be arranged for three nights, with prices starting at €2,840. You can also continue your journey by visiting other parks on the Northern Safari Circuit: Lake Manyara National Park, which boasts the highest biodiversity in Tanzania and five distinct, interconnected ecosystems; Tarangire National Park, famous for its enormous and spectacular baobabs; Serengeti National Park; and Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Finally, a Middle Eastern experience in the Al Ula region of Saudi Arabia, whose desert is the natural extension of Jordan's Wadi Rum. This is a unique adventure in a still little-known territory, rich in culture and landscapes of magical beauty. The journey begins with a visit to Medâ'inSalehe, the ruins of the Nabatean city of Hegra, before continuing on for four and a half days on horseback along the beautiful trails of the characteristic ochre-colored sandstone desert, through valleys, canyons, and mountains of various shapes (including the famous Elephant Rock), where you can also admire ancient rock carvings of human and animal figures. Individual rates start at €4,639 and include transfers from Al Ula, seven nights in a tented camp, full board, horse, equipment, and a guide.
