Gironde: 29 shows to see in the streets of this medieval village in Gironde in July

The Rues et Vous festival returns from July 4th to 6th for its 18th edition, hosted by the Musaraigne association. The program features a variety of street arts: theater, dance, circus, and more.

The streets of the medieval village of Rions will once again come alive this summer. For its eighteenth edition, the Rues et vous festival remains true to its core values: street performances of theater, circus, dance, music, and puppetry, to be enjoyed with the family in Rions from July 4 to 6.

The eighteenth edition of the Rues et vous festival will be a celebration of "emancipation, at the age of majority," as the Musaraigne team presents. In recent months, the association has faltered, but it has recovered. The first blow was the withdrawal of the Convergence Garonne community of communes from the organization, the second, even more painful, the death of Christophe Azema, director of the community's cultural department and instigator of the event.

"He had boundless enthusiasm, he was an unforgettable companion," says Typhaine Marec, co-president. "We want this edition to live up to the man he was." As a nod, the shrew, featured on the poster for the 2025 edition, wears glasses and an earring, just like him.

An eclectic program

Reassured by the support of local authorities and private partners, the association is once again offering around thirty performances for everyone this year. "This isn't just a cultural event; it's an associative project where culture is a driving force for social connection and a lever for connecting with people. It breaks down barriers and builds bridges between generations," insists co-president Nathalie Vard.

The festival will take place over three days. The first event will take place on Friday, July 4th, at the Halle aux Petits Pois (Pea Market Hall) for the opening performance with the Jam collective at 6:30 p.m. Then, the No Kill company will offer a unique pocket-sized lecture, commissioned by the association, on the theme of rebirth. Over the weekend, Léon Lenclos will also humorously unravel "Possible Worlds" and "Anniversaries."

The next day, festival-goers can start their day at the Cercle populaire, which will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The garden of the association bar will also be a meeting place for kids with its little feet area. Among the shows to discover on Saturday and Sunday, the dance duo from the company Jusqu'à maintenant, the show "Mission F" from the Bougrelas company, an offbeat fable about our troubled times, or "Fidji" from the La Dépliante company, halfway between stand-up, storytelling, and circus, with reflections on life, the world, and felines. Young audiences will be able to discover the clown Ouah and his trombone.

The evenings will end with music: on Friday, DJ Moumoute will perform in his customized C15, and on Saturday, the traditional artisanal fanfare and then the National Dance Orchestra will do their utmost to get people moving. The festival, which has attracted an average of 5,000 spectators in previous years, also features nine food trucks and three refreshment stands serving local drinks.
