The new Legoland park in Shanghai will open in July.

Legoland is a company that has already opened theme parks in various places around the world such as Billund (Denmark), California (United States), Florida (United States) , New York (United States), Malaysia, Dubai, Windsor (United Kingdom), Japan, Korea and Germany.

However, its most ambitious initiative will be located in Shanghai. The official opening of this park, built approximately 52 kilometers southwest of the city center and opened this Friday in a test phase, will be on July 5th. It will feature more than 75 activities , including rides and shows, spread across eight themed areas designed around the universe of the popular building blocks.

In total, some 85 million pieces were used to build the thousands of figures that decorate the complex. The park also features a 4D cinema where Lego movies will be shown, and a 250-room hotel with five different styles, inspired by its most popular franchises.

One of the main attractions is Miniland, a Lego recreation—weighing more than 45 tons—of iconic Chinese landscapes and monuments , such as the Forbidden City in Beijing or the tallest skyscrapers in Shanghai.

Among the new features is the world's first show based on the 'Monkie Kid' series, a Lego production inspired by the Monkey King from 'Journey to the West,' one of the most influential works of classical Chinese literature.

This will be the eleventh Legoland park worldwide and the first to open in the Asian giant. Ticket prices for the Legoland complex in the Chinese megalopolis will range from 255 yuan ($35.50) to 479 yuan ($66) for children, while the cheapest adult passes will cost 319 yuan ($44.40), according to the Yicai business daily.

Shanghai opened mainland China's first Disneyland park in 2016 (it opened in the semi-autonomous territory of Hong Kong in 2005), and is also planning to open another themed resort dedicated to the Harry Potter film universe starting in 2027.
