The beach considered the 'Caribbean of Granada' for its crystal-clear waters and natural surroundings

Virtually everyone has dreamed of relaxing for a few days on the idyllic beaches of the Caribbean, but what few know is that you don't have to cross the Atlantic Ocean to enjoy equally idyllic beaches, as Spain has enclaves of similar beauty. One of them is located in southeastern Andalusia, in one of the main tourist centers in the province of Granada , the busy town of Almuñécar.
This Granada municipality is packed with tourists during the summer months, but what few people know is that just a few kilometers from the town center is a wonderful beach nestled in a wild environment, earning it the nickname "the Caribbean of Granada." This is the incredible Cantarriján beach, a little secret hidden among the cliffs that few people have managed to discover until now.
Cantarriján beach, the wildest in Almuñécar
Cantarriján Beach is located about seven kilometers from the hamlet of La Herradura, a small town in the municipality of Almuñécar. This sandy beach , just 380 meters long and 40 meters wide, is hidden between the Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs, which rise on the shores of the crystal-clear Mediterranean waters and naturally separate Granada and Málaga. The large rock formations give this enclave a secluded atmosphere, ideal for those seeking tranquility.
Its fine, golden sand contrasts with the wild surroundings, but despite its isolation, it has everything bathers need, from restaurants to showers and umbrella rentals. Nestled in a magnificent natural setting, anyone who sets foot on it will immediately be transported to one of the world's most idyllic places.

Despite being a nudist beach, all kinds of tourists flock to this difficult-to-access stretch of sand , which amazes every curious visitor who sets foot there. It's undoubtedly one of the most exciting spots along Granada's entire coastline, as well as a haven for those escaping the crowds during the summer months.
The beach is difficult to access, and although there is a nearby parking lot, during the summer season there is a shuttle bus service that also serves to control crowding. The shuttle schedule, as confirmed on the Almuñécar tourism website, is from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and a return ticket costs three euros.
How to get to Cantarriján beach from AlmuñécarCantarriján beach is just a 20-minute drive from the town of Almuñécar. To get there from the town, simply take the N-340, where the first parking lot on the beach is located. If you prefer, you can take a winding road full of curves from there to reach the second parking lot, which is right on the beach.
