The arrival of foreign visitors to Colombia increased by 6.6 percent between January and May of this year.

According to official figures from Colombian Immigration, 1.9 million non-resident international visitors entered the country between January and May of this year. This figure represents a 6.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and 42 percent more than before the pandemic.

The main destination departments for international visitors were Bogotá, with 34.84 percent; Antioquia (25.65 percent); Bolívar (20.56 percent); Valle del Cauca (4.71 percent); and San Andrés and Providencia (3.35 percent).
Other departments such as Atlántico, Magdalena, Norte de Santander, Risaralda, and Santander also stood out in terms of traveler flow.
Regarding air connectivity, 4.36 million passengers traveled on scheduled flights in April 2025, representing a 3.1 percent increase compared to April 2024 and a 27 percent increase compared to April 2023. In that same month, the number of arrivals on international flights increased by 10.6 percent compared to the previous year.

From January to April 2025, 17.98 million passengers traveled, registering an increase of 3.4 percent compared to 2024 and 21.4 percent compared to 2023. International arrivals during that period also grew by 8.8 percent.
According to DANE figures, the occupancy rate for tourist accommodations for April 2025 was 46.8 percent, a similar performance to that recorded in the same month last year, reflecting a sustained recovery in the sector.
Increase in travel spending According to a study by the Booking.com platform, 66 percent of Colombian travelers plan to allocate a higher budget for their trips in 2025 compared to 2024.

This trend is most evident among millennials (aged 29-44), with 67 percent saying they will increase their budget. Among Gen Z, the figure is 65 percent, while among Gen X, it's 63 percent.
This demonstrates the growing interest among the travel community not only in continuing to explore new destinations and experiencing diverse nature, gastronomy, and culture, but also in investing more in travel.
