IndiGo Announces Its Next Long-Haul Destination

IndiGo will become the first airline to offer direct connectivity between India and Greece, with flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Athens starting January 2026. The low-cost carrier announced Monday that it will operate three weekly services on both routes, using its soon-to-be-delivered Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The move gives IndiGo a clear head start over Greek flag carrier Aegean, which announced similar plans last month. Aegean will only begin flying the Delhi–Athens route in March 2026 and the Mumbai–Athens route in May.
Calling the new corridor a “strategic step” in IndiGo’s international expansion, CEO Pieter Elbers said the airline sees strong demand for both business and leisure travel. “We are confident this route will further encourage demand for business and leisure travel alike. With this, we also look to connect to more points in Greece, strengthening the connectivity between the two countries,” he said.
