Cruise ship bathrooms are often small, meaning they lack storage, which can make things difficult when it comes to reaching for toiletries. After watching many cruise programmes over the years and taking advice from TikTok, I decided to invest in a hanging wash bag.

A hanging wash bag maximises bathroom space and keeps toiletries organised and easily accessible. They also often have multiple compartments, helping to separate and organise different types of toiletries, making them easier to find. I’ve come back from my cruise raving about my hanging toiletry bag and telling everyone they need to buy one.

Over the years, cruise queen Jane McDonald has raved about her hanging toiletry bags, which allow you to keep your toiletries in the bag with easy access.

This is ideal on a cruise ship if you have a small bathroom, as storage space for unpacking toiletries is often limited.

She also advises against packing full-sized toiletries, suggesting that these can be found onboard or purchased during the cruise.

However, if you’re cruising for a significant amount of time, taking two hanging toiletry bags may be a better option in order to pack full-size.

I was so thankful that I had purchased this toiletry bag ahead of my cruise, as it turned out to be the handiest item I had packed.

There were so many places to hang the toiletry bag, but I went for the back of the bathroom door for ease. If you’re taking more than one, you could even hang one in the wardrobe.

With three compartments, it was easy to separate items so I wasn’t scrambling looking for a certain item and I was shocked at how much the bag actually fitted in it.

In one compartment, I had shower products, in another, I had face products, and then the small section at the top was perfect for cotton pads and tweezers.

The hanging bag stored a lot more toiletries than any of my other bags I usually travel with do, and what’s more, once folded, they felt nice and secure.

I think I will use this toiletry bag whenever I go away from now on, not just on cruises, because it was amazing.

I picked mine up from Amazon for just £10, but many stores sell them, including Boots.
