Airbnb Announces First Financials Since Services Launch

Airbnb is seeing early promising signs about its new Services and relaunched Experiences product. Interestingly, Airbnb plans to market stays, Services and Experience together under the Airbnb brand rather than marketing them individually.
Airbnb's shareholder letter said early signals from its relaunched Experiences and the new Services segment, where guests can order everything from private chefs to hair styling at the property, were positive.
Airbnb said it processed 60,000 host applications for its recently relaunched Experiences and the new Airbnb Services. CEO Brian Chesky said he thinks the business potential for Services is significantly larger than that for Experiences, and Airbnb intends to expand the number of Services categories.
Since launch, people who booked Airbnb Experiences and Services gave them an average 4.93 out of 5 review versus 4.8 for stays.
"While these new offerings will take time to scale, we're encouraged by the early results," Airbnb's said.
CEO Brian Chesky, discussing seats and experiences during the second quarter earnings call Wednesday, said Airbnb is focused on improving their "attach rates" in key cities like Paris.
