Agoda’s Job Cuts Spark Outrage Over Clauses Silencing Workers

Online travel agency Agoda has cut jobs in Singapore, Shanghai, and Budapest, with around 50 workers affected in Singapore alone.
“We have phased out customer support roles in our offices in Budapest, Shanghai and Singapore while creating new positions in other geographic locations,” Agoda said in a statement. "This move is designed to consolidate our customer support teams in areas where we have the strongest operational flexibility and capability as we continue to grow our business."
The company has been moving customer support work to lower-cost hubs, including India, Thailand, and Egypt.
Skift searched Agoda’s careers site on Friday and found 307 openings in customer experience, with several in Cairo, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur.
