Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands and is hugely popular with UK tourists who are looking for the sun and sea. British tourists accounted for over 40% of all international visitors last year, but lately there have been some worries that the holiday destination is becoming more expensive.

Tenerife is introducing new measures to protect its natural environment from the impact of overtourism. For example, tourists visiting Mount Teide, Spain's tallest mountain which is located on Tenerife, will face a new 'eco tax' from next year. Meanwhile, according to a Brit who lives in Tenerife and works for a travel agent, many tourists say food and drink is becoming more expensive too, as the cost of living continues to soar.

However, the travel agent said he disagrees with this - especially after discovering the price of a full English breakfast in Los Cristianos at a restaurant called LA TASCA 7. After ordering the breakfast, he showed off his plate which consisted of two slices of bacon, two sausages, two pieces of toast, a tomato and two eggs. It also came with the option of baked beans, which he declined because he doesn't like them.

The breakfast was served on a "big plate" with HP sauce on the side, and was enjoyed with a sea view. And it all came to €4.60 [£3.90], which he said was "crazy". He added: "That's the price of one pint in the UK and I've got a full English breakfast, in the sun, for [the same price]."

In the caption, he added: "How do they even make money selling it this cheap?".

In the comment section, some agreed that you can get plenty of cheap food and drink in Tenerife. One person wrote: "Prices are good in Tenerife. I can't see how people say it's dear... You can find a pint for €1.50 [£1.26] and a breakfast for €3 [£2.52]... and we absolutely love it." Another added: "We went there after the markets and it was so nice! Nice spot to people watch, enjoy the view, and was super cheap compared to most other places."

Someone else wrote: "Not bad the price, over here you can’t get it for under 8 euros and it’s not even that decent."

However, not everyone agreed. "It used to be cheap for Brits. Not anymore," said one person. Another added: "It's not like that in all of Spain, in Tenerife the taxes are way lower then the rest of Spain, don't expect those prices everywhere."

Meanwhile, others couldn't help but comment on his breakfast choice. "You in Tenerife and eating English breakfast? You okay?", one person quipped. Someone else wrote: "It always baffles me why people go to an exotic country to order an English breakfast."

Meanwhile, others were shocked that he didn't have beans on his breakfast. "Can’t trust no one that don’t like beans that’s diabolical," joked one person. "How can anybody not like beans," asked another.
