'I'm a travel blogger — the 4 overcrowded European destinations I would never return to'

During the peak holiday season, Europe's top destinations can become overwhelmingly crowded. A travel expert revealed to Express.co.uk their experience of Italy's renowned yet overcrowded attractions.
Globally celebrated hotspots like Barcelona are now imposing higher tourist taxes to manage the influx of visitors. If you're looking to avoid overcrowded destinations this summer, Sara Rodriguez, a travel expert and blogger at Madrid Traveling has shared the four places that she found far too busy.
Positano, nestled on the Amalfi Coast, may be picturesque, but Sara described the scene as far too "hectic".
She recounted to Express.co.uk: "While undeniably beautiful with its colourful buildings and seaside views, the narrow streets were packed shoulder to shoulder with other sightseers.
"The atmosphere felt more hectic than idyllic and prices were inflated for tourists. I left feeling like I never got to experience the real Positano beyond the chaotic surface."
Amsterdam, the Dutch capital, is another city grappling with the challenges of overtourism, even initiating campaigns to discourage certain types of visitors such as stag parties.
Sara observed: "The city centre was overrun with rowdy bachelor parties riding bikes through crowded streets. The museums were packed and reservations at restaurants were impossible to get."Paris, FranceThe City of Love, Paris, failed to capture Sara's heart, leaving her surprisingly underwhelmed by the European hotspot.
She disclosed: "The congested boulevards of Paris and the never-ending lineups at attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Louvre strained my patience. I didn't really enjoy the atmosphere as much as I was waiting to take shots."
In contrast, Sara's expectations for a peaceful retreat in Mykonos, Greece, were thwarted by an unexpected reality.
Sara recounted: "When I finally went to the Greek island, I thought it would be a tranquil haven.
"Even while it was breathtakingly gorgeous, I felt that partygoers and inebriated vacationers overshadowed it. The restaurants were expensive and the beaches were noisy."
