Discovery Returns to the Sea with Renewed Cabins!

Discovery, which has 47 renovated cabins and a 50 percent increase in premium cabins with balconies, has returned to the seas for Celestyal's Mediterranean season. Discovery, which will set sail for the Arabian Gulf in December, has seen its renovation increase its total capacity by 7.4 percent.
Celestyal has released images of Discovery’s newly renovated cabins as it undergoes its second major winter refit in Athens. The 1,360-guest ship is back in service to kick off the Celestyal line’s Mediterranean season. Discovery will head to the Arabian Gulf in December for her maiden voyage in the region.
The upgrades include 47 new cabins, including 30 Junior Dream Suites, which increase the ship’s premium capacity by more than 50 per cent, and two Grand Horizon Suites with 15.5m² balconies on the bridge. An additional 15 interior Cosmos Cabins have also been added, increasing total capacity by 7.4 per cent.
First ship to be fueled with marine biofuels
The new cabins feature design elements inspired by the regions the ship visits. Significant investment has been made in adapting the onboard social spaces, with the addition of a new-generation coffee bar, Café Nation, as well as the Pizza Oven Eatery and Discovery Lounge. Ninety percent of Celestyal Discovery’s renovation was carried out by local Greek artisans and craftsmen. Two scrubber towers have been retrofitted to ensure the ship complies with the region’s strict sulphur emissions environmental standards. With these renovations, Discovery became the first ship in Greece to be fuelled with a locally produced marine biofuel blend, reducing CO₂ emissions by 21 percent.
Lee Haslett, Celestyal’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “The refurbishment programme we have undertaken on Celestyal Discovery this winter demonstrates our continued investment in our guest experience. Not only have we added more balcony cabins, we have also enhanced our premium cabin options to meet the increasing demand for more space and comfort, whilst maintaining our small ship charm and personal service. These images show just how far we have come and we are very proud to be taking Celestyal Discovery into the Arabian Gulf for the first time this December.”
Celestyal Discovery will embark on its maiden voyage to the Arabian Gulf on December 12, 2025, joining fleetmate Celestyal Journey, which will return to the region for a celebratory voyage on December 6.
The ships will offer a season of 3, 4 and 7-night cruises from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha, with sailings scheduled through March 2026 and continuing over the next three years.
