Mother's Day is coming! Celebrated every second Sunday in May, this is one of the most traditional dates for family gatherings around the table. Often, they are the ones who carefully plan everyone's meals, and there's nothing more fitting than treating them to a beautiful lunch on the occasion, which this year falls on the 11th.

Restaurants of different styles in Rio de Janeiro prepare exclusive suggestions for the date, ranging from starters and main courses to desserts designed especially for them. Did you think it would be a good idea for no one to cook on this day? There's still time to plan ahead!

Where to eat on Mother's Day in Rio de Janeiro:

Nôa is located on one of the most charming corners of Ipanema. For Mother's Day, chef Ricardo Lapeyre prepared a set menu inspired by his family's recipes. The menu includes Gourgère with house-made curd; Waldorf lobster salad with sheep's yogurt; seafood puff pastry with cherry tomatoes and spinach; sea bass with banana curry puree and champagne sauce with hearts of palm, and pavlova with yellow Brazilian fruits. It costs R$240 per person.

On Sunday (11), Gero Rio will offer special suggestions on its menu to celebrate Mother's Day. As a starter, created especially for the date, executive chef Luigi Moressa suggests the Pumpkin flower stuffed with buffalo mozzarella in San Marzano tomato sauce and basil (R$ 92)

As a main dish, the option is Tagliolini nero with squid, shrimp, tomato confit and arugula (R$140).

To finish, Pear with Sicilian lemon, pecans and white chocolate with vanilla , a classic dessert at Gero, returns to the menu for the occasion (R$55). The restaurant's traditional menu will also be available on the day.

For Mother's Day, Babbo Osteria will serve an exclusive dish created by chef Elia Schramm: lobster tail in Sicilian lemon butter, with asparagus risotto and grana padano cheese crumble (R$ 185). The option will only be available on May 10 and 11, Saturday and Sunday.

For Mother's Day, chef Andrea Tinoco prepared special dishes at the Leblon and Barra da Tijuca branches.

In the south zone, suggestions include grilled octopus with pumpkin puree and miso, fried potatoes, edamame salad and roti sauce (R$130), and the Basque vanilla pie with raspberry gelato and caramel sauce with miso and fleur de sel (R$38).

In Barra, the menu features gnocchi dorati with truffle mushroom sauce (R$69) and 70% chocolate fondant with caramel gelato and fleur de sel (R$35).

Banquet chef Carlos Volker is responsible for the menu, which features cold cuts, cheeses, salads, antipasti, hot dishes, live stations, and vegan dishes. Another highlight is the dessert station with creations by pastry chef Paula Peixoto. Also included are sparkling wine, white and red wines, beer, caipirinha, and non-alcoholic beverages (1st batch: R$385 per adult, including taxes; teenagers from 13 to 17 years old pay R$289; children from 6 to 12 years old pay R$193 and children under 6 years old pay R$10).

In celebration of Mother's Day, Posì Mozza & Mare , an Italian restaurant specializing in seafood, located in Ipanema, has created a dish and a drink for the date. They will be available throughout the weekend.

For the main course, pappardelle ripieno stuffed with ossobuco roasted for 6 hours in red wine, fresh tomato sauce and grattato bread (R$82) is the suggestion. Meanwhile, head mixologist Marcelo Emídio prepared the Meloncello Spritz, a cocktail made with artisanal melon liqueur, Aperol, Sicilian lemon and brut sparkling wine (R$43).

Served as an appetizer, it is served with date syrup and a Cabernet Sauvignon reduction (R$578).
