The Croatian Embassy warns you about how to fall victim to fraud.

Poles have come to love Croatia more than their native Baltic Sea. Due to its relatively short distance from the Adriatic coast (especially from cities in southern Poland), we often decide to travel at the last minute. A spontaneous trip without a plan, however, can be costly. "The frantic search for accommodation causes you to let down your guard and be tempted by seemingly attractive holiday accommodation offers," warns the Polish Embassy in Zagreb.
This should raise a red flag.In a recent social media post, the Polish Embassy in Croatia reached out to holiday bargain hunters. Unfortunately, very cheap accommodation offers found online can, at best, disappoint us, and at worst, expose us to significant financial losses or ruin our holiday.
A red flag should go off especially if the offer sounds too good to be true. This could be due to photos that are too good to be true, for example – it's worth checking if they haven't been used in another "offer" at a completely different address. We also shouldn't make payments outside of the official booking platform, but always pay attention to reviews from previous guests. "Also, be wary of reviews that may be fake. Scammers often write reviews for themselves via other profiles to boost their ratings. So, check the source of the reviews if you find them suspicious," we read.
Last minute reservationsNot only self-organized trips, but also holidays booked through a travel agency can be a source of problems and frustration later on. In an interview with "Wprost," attorney Tymoteusz Paprocki revealed the pitfalls that tour operators' clients face , especially when it comes to last-minute vacations. "We often first look at the price, look at photos of the hotel and the beach, and that's when our vigilance is somewhat relaxed. By checking well in advance, we not only check all the information in the brochure, but also verify the location on Google Maps or search for photos of the property online. With last-minute deals, we don't always do this," says the lawyer.
