Neither Santiago nor A Coruña: the Galician destination that has become popular among Spanish tourists.

Galicia is one of the most incredible places in all of Spain, and the autonomous community perfectly combines spectacular beaches, a wild interior, and beautiful cities steeped in history, such as A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. One of the hidden gems of this region in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula is one of those incredible cities brimming with wonders: Vigo.
The city in the province of Pontevedra has been gaining fame in recent years for the spectacular Christmas lights displayed by its mayor, Abel Caballero, although the reality is that Vigo is also a perfect city to visit in spring and summer. Located on the shores of the Atlantic, it boasts beautiful buildings and wonderful settings that will amaze any tourist who sets foot on its picturesque streets.
What to see in Vigo, the most underrated city in Galicia
Vigo's Old Town is one of the most special places in the entire city. Strolling along beautiful avenues like Calle Real, Paseo de Afonso XII, or the lively Calle de las Ostras helps you get a feel for the essence of this historic city. You can also relax for a few minutes in impressive squares like Puerta del Sol or Constitución, which are surrounded by beautiful stone buildings with arcades.
You also can't miss strolling through the streets of the incredible Bouzas neighborhood, which maintains the seaside atmosphere of the early 19th century and where you can sample Galician cuisine. Visit the beautiful Cathedral of Santa María, built in the first half of the 19th century and combining Baroque and Neoclassical elements. However, outside of Vigo's historic center, there are also many wonders worth visiting.

One of the city's symbols is undoubtedly the imposing Rande Bridge, which rises 152 meters above the Vigo Estuary. Therefore, don't hesitate to climb to one of the viewpoints on the outskirts of the city to admire it in all its splendor. Also far from the city center is the extraordinary Pazo Quiñones de León, located in the idyllic Castrelos Park.
Plus, if you visit Vigo before the bad weather sets in, don't miss the opportunity to visit its impressive fishing port for a stroll along the Atlantic coast. Furthermore, both in the city and just a few kilometers away , there are small but incredible beaches where you can take your last dip of the year.
