Spello is preparing for its most beautiful event: the Infiorata 2025 in the Jubilee Year

The charming Umbrian village of Spello is preparing to experience one of the most exciting and engaging events in its cultural calendar: the Infiorata , an event rooted in the religious and artistic tradition of the area, which this year takes on an even more intense meaning due to its coincidence with the Jubilee Year of Hope .
The 2025 edition , which will take place over the weekend of June 21 and 22 , with the solemnity of Corpus Domini, promises to be full of new features and original initiatives, ready to enchant both regular visitors and those who are experiencing this feast of the senses for the first time.
An open-air floral museum among the streets of the villageDuring the weekend, the entire historic center of Spello will be transformed into an extraordinary natural art gallery .
The cobbled streets, the silent squares and the flower-filled alleys will merge into a single path almost two kilometres long, from Porta Consolare to the belvedere, with over sixty large floral works : each flower arrangement is made with flower petals and plant materials , according to a rigorous technique that excludes any use of glues or artificial pigments.
The composition of the floral paintings takes place in the magical night atmosphere between Saturday and Sunday, when around two thousand flower arrangers (including almost five hundred children) will give life, petal after petal, to extraordinary masterpieces.
A special tribute to Pope Francis and the spirituality of VallegloriaA particularly notable moment in the 2025 edition is represented by the out-of-competition flower display dedicated to Pope Francis and the Poor Clare nuns of the Vallegloria Monastery .
An artistic and spiritual tribute that unites the figure of the Pontiff to the religious heart of Spello: the work, conceived by Gianni Donati in collaboration with Chiara Cerchice, extends over a surface of 30 square meters. At the center of the composition stands out the icon of the Jubilee , from which the tongues of fire of the Holy Spirit radiate. Next to it, a rose window inspired by the monastery will act as a trait d'union between the cloistered community and the Umbrian village. To complete the symbolism, the bud of hope expresses the central theme of the Jubilee , that of rebirth and forgiveness.
A night of perfumes, art and participationDuring the evocative “ Night of Flowers ”, citizens and visitors can actively contribute to the creation of the works, working alongside the expert flower arrangers.
The entire city participates enthusiastically, with shops and restaurants open all night and a series of collateral events that embrace music, culture and entertainment.
The cultural program includes exhibitions of historical sketches , philatelic collections dedicated to the Infiorata, exhibitions and guided tours of the Villa dei Mosaici and the Pinacoteca civica. Street artists will animate various points of the village, with stops planned in symbolic places such as the Tega Chapel , the Town Hall, the Church of San Martino and the Teatro Subasio.
The works must be completed by the first light of dawn on Sunday 22 June. At 8:00 a.m. the evaluation by the jury begins, composed of experts called to judge the originality, technique and visual impact of the works. As per tradition, the event culminates with the solemn procession of Corpus Domini , led by the bishop, who travels the route embellished with floral carpets, transforming the liturgy into an experience of intense beauty and meditation.
Between Philately and Gastronomy: What's New in 2025Among the innovations introduced for 2025, the special philatelic cancellation created by Poste Italiane stands out, printed on an author's postcard signed by maestro Elvio Marchionni.
Another important novelty concerns food and wine . Near the Villa dei Mosaici there is an area dedicated to floral street food , where you can taste regional dishes enriched with edible flowers, until Sunday evening.
