In the valleys of East Tyrol in search of essential mountains and wild nature

Those who know it well, starting with its inhabitants, define it as a special land. Which stands out both from other Austrian regions and from those closer to and across the border with Italy, North Tyrol with its capital Innsbruck and South Tyrol, or rather our Alto Adige. Osttirol, Eastern Tyrol, which falls under the Lienz district, aims to be something unique compared to classic mountain scenery. The secret of this diversity? The authenticity of this territory, where traditions and wild nature are the protagonists and give holidaymakers who are “not homologated” to the more famous (and much more frequented) destinations an opportunity for well-being made up of places where they can find and experience the essential, in total harmony with the context. In Osttirol, after all, even environmental sustainability is not a marketing slogan, but a virtue that manifests itself in a tangible way. Some examples? The Defereggental Valley is one of the least populated high Alpine valleys and in the Hohe Tauern National Park you can only get around by public buses and ski lifts or by electric car or bicycle.
