Trois-Pistoles, a dream destination for outdoor, history and food lovers in Bas-Saint-Laurent

Trois-Pistoles and its surrounding area offer a wide variety of activities for outdoor, culture, and history lovers. It's also a gourmet destination: the Fromagerie des Basques is a must-visit for stocking up on local products, cheese curds, and delicious tarts.

The Canteen of Loves

In town, Cantine d'Amours, with its U-shaped counters and friendly atmosphere, has been popular with locals and visitors since 1954. Try the Cheese complet, topped with homemade fries!

Since you're just steps away from the magnificent Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Church, take the opportunity to take the self-guided tour. You'll discover a wealth of unusual details about the construction, architecture, and ornamentation of this church, built in the late 1800s.

Spend some time on the platform

Need to get moving? The municipal campsite directly overlooks the section of the Route verte that crosses the MRC des Basques. You can walk or cycle to the dock, where people gather to watch the sunset, monitor the ferry, and catch up on news.

Depending on the tides, you can take an excursion to the Île-aux-Basques Natural and Historical Park, a jewel of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region that is worth the detour if you enjoy birdwatching, peace and quiet, and unusual discoveries (provancher.org).

The beach path (a dead-end), which is also taken from the campsite, provides access to the uncrowded Grève Morency Park and allows you to walk along its beautiful beach. It's peaceful and away from traffic.

The Basque Coast

The famous National Trail also passes through Trois-Pistoles: you can reach the Littoral des Basques section from the Parc de l'aventure basque en Amérique, accessible from the campsite. Other trails can be found in the Trois-Pistoles River area (sentiernationabsl.com).
