It looks like Miami but it's in Europe: this beach has the same name and turquoise waters

Welcome to Miami... or almost! This seaside resort is playing the mimicry card with its famous American namesake.

It's a jewel the Mediterranean knows how to create: with dream beaches and sunshine, all just a few hours from France. Yet its name can be disorienting. No, you're not in Florida, despite what the signs at the entrance to the city indicate. Welcome to Miami Playa!

It shares many of the same attractions as its famous namesake: fine sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and palm trees are just some of them. This little corner of paradise, still relatively unknown to the general public, has everything it takes to attract vacationers looking for a complete change of scenery without having to cross the Atlantic.

The water quality, regularly awarded a Blue Flag, isn't Miami Playa's only asset. With its 12 kilometers of coastline, it offers numerous opportunities for walking and swimming. Playa Cristal, with its golden sand and shallow waters, is perfect for families, while small, intimate coves within walking distance, such as Cala Bot or Cala Misterio, invite you to swim in peace.

Here, there are no endless buildings or crowded beaches, but rather a clever blend of nature, calm, and the Spanish way of life. Because yes, you've probably guessed right, Miami Playa is located in Spain, on the Costa Dorada.

Located about 100 kilometers south of Barcelona, in the province of Taragona, Miami Playa has played the mimicry card to the fullest since its creation in 1970 by a developer who was clearly not very inspired but who had a good idea. Miami Playa is now attracting more and more year-round residents, according to the local press.

There's something for everyone nearby. Nature lovers can hike in the nearby Sierra de Llaberia or explore the coast by kayak. History buffs will enjoy visiting nearby villages like Montroig, where painter Joan Miró regularly came for inspiration. And for food lovers, the local cuisine showcases Mediterranean flavors and local produce. Fresh fish, rice, fideuás, and tapas of Catalan origin make up the bulk of the restaurant menus.
