The Spanish water park that debuts a vertical drop attraction unique in Europe

Now that the good weather seems to have settled in forever, getaways to coastal destinations are on the rise, whether for a weekend escape from the cities or a well-deserved mini-vacation. Among the favorite experiences for families are theme parks and, seasonally, water parks. A handful of these large spaces are scattered across Spain, where fun is guaranteed.

Located on the Costa Brava , and more specifically in Lloret de Mar , is Water World, one of the Spanish water parks, a favorite with foreign tourists – not as well known in the domestic market, which only represents 40% of its visitors – with an annual turnover of 12 million euros. Founded by Josep Tarré and Josep María Cama, pioneers in water leisure in the 1980s, this is one of the largest of its kind in all of Europe, with 150,000 square meters of facilities featuring all kinds of attractions aimed at both children and adults.

In total, there are around 25 attractions divided into different categories. Firstly, there are the family attractions, which include Tornado Land with eight slides and a maximum depth of 0.75m; Rafting River, boats with capacity for four people that glide through circuits; and Water Mountain, 250 metres of exciting ups and downs. On the other hand, there are the children's attractions such as Kiddie Island , a place of pure fun dedicated to the little ones in the house; Kids Water World; and Nauyaca. And finally, there are the so-called daring ones, among which stand out X-trem Mountain , a roller coaster with dizzying ups and downs; Kamikazes , which reaches speeds of 60 km/h; Speed Furious , a free fall; and the two-person boats Hurricanes .

There are also several pools where you can rest and relax between rides, a food court to recharge your batteries, and VIP areas located in the park's quieter areas that offer exclusive benefits to those who book. There are several options to choose from, such as "Balinese Beds," which for 60 euros includes a bottle of cava, a gift from the park, preferential reservations at some restaurants, a bag of goodies, and hammocks in different areas. The Gold version , which includes two Fast Passes for Water World, costs 96 euros . These amounts are added to the general admission price of 40 euros per person. The park's hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and until 7 p.m. during July and August.

This season, which began this May, the park is celebrating 40 years since it opened to the public back on July 12, 1985. For this anniversary, they wanted to introduce a major new attraction to attract more visitors: Tornado King, a unique attraction in Europe categorized as one of the most iconic water attractions in the world. It is an inflatable boat that can accommodate up to five occupants and that encounters two vertical walls along its route, allowing you to experience the sensation of zero gravity and get an adrenaline rush with these two free falls at a 100% incline. It has been designed with the patented technology of ProSlide Technology Inc. , a world leader in water attraction innovation.

On the other hand, Tornado Land incorporates a mini Tornado King , a double tornado wave for children, so that little ones can enjoy the same experience as adults. In their commitment to the sustainability of natural resources, they are also launching a pioneering water reuse system that allows the filtering and reuse of cleaning water, reducing the amount of water discarded.
