The holidays are beginning (or will soon be) for millions of families with children in Spain and around the world, often with destinations that include swimming pools or sea water.

But we must consider the safety of the little ones, and one of the things we can do is pack one or more items of clothing that, at a given moment, may be crucial.

A British doctor and TikToker who posts under the name 'Doctor Shireen' explains why you should make sure your child wears brightly colored swimsuits, such as red, orange, or fluorescent yellow.

"The color of the swimsuit will literally save their lives if they get into trouble," says the doctor. "Some colors camouflage themselves and disappear when submerged. This means that if a child is drowning , it will be much harder to find, locate, and save them," says Shireen.

According to the doctor, you should be careful with light blue, green, and gray colors, as they disappear completely in the water, making it very difficult for children to be detected. Black is also not recommended.

Instead, bright colors like red and yellow are good options. Pink, orange, and fluorescent colors are also better, the doctor says.
