Anguilla sets record for South American tourists in 2024: How to get there and what to do there?

The Anguilla Tourism Authority recently announced official results for visitor arrivals from South America in 2024, reaching a historic high of 2,342 tourists, the highest number recorded since 2019.

The performance reinforces the island's consolidation as one of the most attractive Caribbean destinations , reflecting the sector's sustainable recovery following the pandemic and the growing interest in the island in the South American market.
Among the countries in the region, Brazil stood out as the leading source with 1,328 visitors, representing a growth of more than 33 percent compared to 2023 , when it received 992 tourists. Argentina ranked second with 527, followed by Colombia with 407 and Chile with 80.

The results for the first quarter of 2025 also indicate the continuation of this growth trend. Between January and March, Anguilla welcomed 747 South American tourists, consolidating a promising start to the year and projecting positive prospects for the coming months.
The destination was recently voted the best island in the Caribbean by Travel + Leisure magazine for the fifth consecutive time and continues to strengthen its prominent position in international tourism.
How to get there and what to do in Anguilla? There are several options for reaching the island from Colombia. One is to fly via Panama and St. Martin, from where you can take a ferry that takes just 20 minutes. Another option is to travel via Miami to Anguilla, with a flight time of approximately three hours. Finally, it is also possible to arrive from Puerto Rico, as several airlines offer direct routes to the island.
The specialized website Travel + Leisure compiled a series of must-do activities on the island, recommended by local experts. One of the highlights is launching into the sea from a classic sloop at sunset, while enjoying traditional cocktails and an unparalleled view.

Since this is an island, the most convenient way to get around is by renting a car. Thanks to its safe environment and affordable size, the ideal option is not to stay in a hotel, but to explore its beaches, historical sites , local restaurants, and everything this destination has to offer.
Water sports are also a central feature of the recommended activities. Kitesurfing is available, with options for lessons and equipment rentals. Paddleboards and transparent kayaks are also available for rent, ideal for exploring the region's crystal-clear waters from a unique perspective.
