Living history of GuadalajaraHome to kings, cardinals, and bishops, the history of the medieval castle that houses the Parador de Sigüenza begins in the 12th century , when it was built on the site of a Moorish citadel. "The warrior bishop Don Bernardo de Agén, who conquered Sigüenza in 1123, was the first to undertake the renovation of the old castle," notes Castilla y León Tourism. It was also the Episcopal See of Sigüenza until the end of the 18th century.

Its robust exterior, with its high stone walls , already leaves all visitors amazed, which is accompanied by a lavishly decorated interior with period furniture , suits of armor and fireplaces that will take us back in time. The cobbled courtyard , the 13th-century Romanesque chapel, the halls and rooms in carved stone and the vaulted dining room stand out, and despite the renovations and restorations, the fortress retains its high medieval spirit.
