For an unforgettable hiking experience, various routes are available. One of them starts at the Ostrau parking lot and takes you on a nine-kilometer, moderately difficult route along the Schrammstein Trail, where you can experience the beauty and diversity of these unique rock formations up close.

High above the Elbe Valley stands Königstein Fortress, one of the largest mountain fortresses in Europe. The region's cultural highlight lies amidst the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and stands as a stone monument to times past.

The extensive castle complex looks back on a rich history spanning many centuries, during which it fulfilled a variety of functions. It served as an important base for its rulers, experienced periods of great splendor, and was also, at times, a place of imprisonment.

Visitors can visit the fortress from April 1 to October 31 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets during this period cost 15 euros for adults, 12 euros with a discount, and 38 euros for family tickets. Last admission is one hour before closing.
